The School of Education &Human Development at the University of Colorado Denver is seeking nominationsand applications for the position of Senior Instructor in the CounselingProgram accredited by the Council for Accreditation ofCounseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP2016 standards).

MajorResponsibilities:

  • Teach graduate courses in the Counseling Programin Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Program(CACREP) core areas, specifically: theories of counseling, multicultural andsocial justice counseling, advanced theories and techniques, career counseling,supervision of practicum and internship

  • Infuse multicultural and diversity issues in allcourse content and class meetings.

  • Participate in faculty meetings; providecommittee service in the Counseling Program and the School of Education &Human Development, to include participation in new student orientations andreview applications for admission to the program.

  • Must be open to using electronic media for instruction,such as Canvas, as courses at CU Denver can be offered as face-to-face, hybrid,or online. 

 

EmploymentConditions: 
This is a full-time academic year, non-tenure-track position. Opportunityfor summer teaching is available.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications: 

  • A conferred doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision from aCACREP-accredited program.
  • Commitment to the professional fields of Counseling andCounselor Education as evidenced by education, teaching, clinical experience,and professional affiliations (such as Association for Counselor Education andSupervision and the American Counseling Association)
  • Demonstrated success or potential success for graduate-levelteaching and advising
  • Eligible for license as a Licensed Professional Counselor inthe state of Colorado.

 

PreferredQualifications: 

  • Licensed as a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Colorado

  • Evidence of cultural competency and inclusion in clinical work.

  • Experience teaching CACREP Core areaclasses.

  • Demonstrate bilingual (Spanish and English) competencies inworking with culturally and linguistically diverse individuals and families.

  • Clear evidence that race, ethnicity, class, gender, sexualorientation, religion, and veteran status and/or other social justice issuesare addressed in syllabi, teaching, and supervision.

  • Experience working with graduate students in instruction,supervision, and mentoring activities.
