Geospatial Analysis Laboratory Manager
Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the director of the Geospatial Analysis Lab, the GsAL Manager is responsible for maintaining and supporting the Geospatial Analysis Lab. This includes both the hardware, software and related equipment needed to deliver the GsAL curriculum, as well as the processes, training and support needed to allow the GsAl users to conduct research and deliver curriculum.
Full Job Description:
- Coordinate the implementation of USF's GIS curriculum as instructed by the GsAL Director
- Support GIS instructors by coordinating lab sections, materials and course management systems
- Assist in GIS instruction as needed and directed by the GsAL Director
- Provide technical assistance and expertise to students and researchers where appropriate
- Manage GsAL software acquisition, installation, distribution and maintenance as prioritized by the GsAL Director.
- Maintain and support the Geospatial Analysis Lab, including installing, maintaining and upgrading software and hardware.
- Manage GIS independent study students by tracking student work plans and coordinating meetings
- Manage GsAL research programs as directed by the GsAL Director
- Coordinate weekly GsAL Meetings
- Maintain GsAL web presence
- Manage the GsAL outreach/media - staying in contact with former students, tracking projects and publications
- Traveling required at about 10% of job
- Experience with USF's procurement process
- Experience managing researchers
- Experience managing students
- Teaching support experience
- Strong Geospatial Analysis skills (Including ESRI products)
- Strong computer management and trouble shooting skills
- Strong communication skills
- Task minded and detailed oriented
- Ability to take initiative and self-start on tasks and issues
- Ability to prioritize tasks based on upcoming needs
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental science related field
- Continuous two year work experience in teaching/research setting
