Position Summary:

The Office of Information Technology is seeking a Network Engineer.

Summary of responsibilities:

  • Manage requests for Network Services. Continuously improves the quality and speed that requests are resolved. Creates reports periodically and discusses open items and areas of improvement with team. Project Management-Receives direction and projects from the Assistant Director for Network Services. Manages a list of projects assigned and reports on the progress of assigned projects periodically.
  • Network Administration and Equipment Configuration of all devices within the FAU network. Installs and configures network equipment. Documents and maintains configuration of devices managed by Network Services. Maintains password control for all applicable network equipment. Creates/provides documentation including network diagrams as necessary. Maintains documentation for Network Services. Responds quickly to network outages.
  • Provides technical support for hardware and software systems serving as network. Supporting network infrastructure includes but is not limited to routers, switches, wireless access points, cellular systems, network appliances, VoIP devices, Windows and Linux systems, as well as copper and fiber infrastructure. Provide support for all devices connected to the network at the main and remote campuses. Conduct all code and operating system updates as needed for network servers, appliances, and hardware. Responsible for the creation, modification and archiving of the hardware configuration and documentation of all network infrastructure.
  • Responsible for network administration support for university requests for new networking services and break fix service requests.
  • Responsible for the installation, operation and maintenance of network infrastructure.
  • Responsible for assisting team in managing complex service requests in a timely fashion under sometimes high-stress situations for networking issues including outages, service changes and degradation of services.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and one year of appropriate experience; or a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and three years of appropriate experience required.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential to success in this position.

Must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel.

Must also have excellent customer service, organizational and time management skills.

Salary:

$65,000 - $75,000
