The Network Operations Manager has overall responsibility for management and coordination of the college’s data/voice infrastructure, unified messaging and collaboration platforms. The Network Operations Manager focuses on short-term and long-term planning, technical personnel development, and implementation of new technologies as well as coordination of problem resolution, tracking, tuning, network performance optimization, installations of expansions and upgrades.
Support Network Operations Staff – Work with Director, Network and Data Center Operations and network team to develop team guidelines, standards and procedures to ensure effective and efficient use of network operations resources. Ensure successful resolution of incidents or problems as escalated by team members, Technical Support Center (TSC) personnel or other IS staff. Responsible for supervisory duties for Operations support team.
Network Operations – Responsible for support of network infrastructure and operations (i.e.: LAN/WAN, video, security, telecommunications, cabling / fiber plant and unified communications, including campus email systems). Ensure the team follows established guidelines and procedures to ensure effective and efficient use of network infrastructure. Work with the Technology Security Officer to maintain network security compliance for state and federal privacy and information protection policies (FERPA, GLB, HIPAA, and PCI).
Analysis and Consultation - Responsible for providing senior level expertise on decisions and priorities regarding the enterprise’s network architecture. Act as an advisor for network troubleshooting and problem resolution. Provide technical leadership for the selection, implementation, and upholding of standards for network operations. Serves as a technical lead and assists the Network Architect in the design and implementation of network infrastructure.
Maintain Network Operations Documentation – Maintain/update network operations, inventory, standards, process and procedure guidelines documentation. Responsible for network monitoring and ensuring appropriate documentation for configuration management of network equipment is in place. Provide utilization and performance data of network infrastructure for operational reporting and capacity planning.Required Skills
- Strong ability to work with other staff members and customers
- Must understand business strategies, organizations and trends and issues related to information technology
- Well-developed written and oral communication skills required
- Cisco Certifications for Voice, Data, Wireless, Security (CCNP, CCIE)
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
- Certification in information services delivery standards, such as, ITIL
- Bachelor’s degree (a degree in information technology, computer science, or network management)
- Minimum of three years experience managing technical staff required
- Must have experience with coordination of large technical projects
- Must have broad technical knowledge of application communication, network topology, hybrid cloud and cloud networks, and network/infrastructure security
