Note to Applicants: This is a department only search. You must be a current UA employee working in the Electrical Maintenance Department to be considered.

Job Summary: Under limited supervision, acts as a lead worker to perform highly skilled work in the commercial electrical trade involving the maintenance, repair and installation of a wide variety of electrical equipment to include high voltage switching equipment, transformers, plus lighting systems in athletic fields, both indoors and outdoors, streets, labs, classrooms and buildings, as well as appliances and circuitry; trains and supervises lower grade personnel. Special Note: This position works with high voltage systems (480 to 12470 VAC) and must work at times at levels of thirty to one-hundred and twenty feet above ground.

Required Minimum Qualifications: A high school diploma or GED and a minimum of six years commercial experience as a journeyman level electrician OR completion of an approved apprenticeship program* with four years commercial experience as a journeyman level electrician OR must possess a journeyman card in this trade with four years commercial experience as a journeyman level electrician. Must have some supervisory/work leadership experience. Ability to work from specifications, plans and blueprints. Ability to prepare detailed estimates of labor and material requirements. Must be able to lift, handle and maneuver the tools, materials and supplies of the job. Must be able to perform those items in the Job Summary and in Essential functions. Must have the ability to use job-related tools and equipment and chemical supplies. Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 21 years of age and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report as determined by the insurance carrier. May be required to obtain Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within 6 months of employment. Must actively pursue training to enhance job skills and knowledge. Must have the ability to act as a mentor and be capable of teaching some course work in this field.

Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Final candidates who are not current University of Alabama employees must submit to and successfully pass a post-offer drug screen.
