CHER is seeking a Program Coordinator to work in this highly-productive and fast-growing grant-funded research environment. The Program Coordinator provides support to CHER’s Grant and Project Support Coordinator, supporting all aspects of grant proposal coordination and development, including drafting routine portions of proposals; support of grants after they are awarded, including budgetary and reporting tasks; support for events and meetings, including teleconferencing support; making travel arrangements and processing travel claims and reimbursements; and other tasks as needed. Experience in a grant-funded environment and prior grant proposal preparation experience highly preferred. The successful candidate will also have a strong background in public health, health education, and/or health equity research.

Grant proposal development and submission

  • Assist the Grant and Project Support Coordinator (Grant Coordinator) in all aspects of proposal preparation, as needed
  • Thoroughly research sponsor guidelines
  • Communicate and coordinate with PIs and others to collect, format, and/or draft routine documents, and format to meet agency requirements and guidelines (e.g., biosketches, letter of support templates, budget justification, certifications)
  • Act as liaison with NAU’s Compliance Office regarding IRB and human subjects documents and certifications for the proposal
  • Support creation of the References Cited portions of proposals using EndNote software
  • Research costs associated with the grant budgets
  • Provide technical assistance to PIs; answer questions related to proposal preparation as needed
  • Proofread grant documents

Research project budget monitoring and reporting

  • Assist the Grant Coordinator in grant budget and effort monitoring and reconciliation
  • Prepare routine grant documents for internal use as directed by the Grant Coordinator (e.g., SPAR forms, budget modifications, advance account requests)
  • Prepare and initiate funding changes and ePARs, as directed by the Grant Coordinator
  • Make travel arrangements and process reimbursements for grant-related travel (employee and non-employee travel)
  • Provide scheduling and logistical support for meetings and events related to sponsored projects, including teleconferencing; correspond with invitees and answer questions; prepare meeting/event materials; and other related duties as needed
  • Support the Grants Coordinator as needed for report preparation

General duties

  • Participate in CHER Administrative Team meetings
  • Attend needed training to stay current on agency guidelines and federal compliance issues
  • Maintain a departmental purchasing card; act as PCard approver

Northern Arizona University requires satisfactory results for the following: a criminal background investigation, an employment history verification and a degree verification (in some cases) prior to employment. You may also be required to complete a fingerprint background check.

Additionally, as an employer in the state of Arizona, NAU is required to participate in the federal E-Verify program that assists employers with verifying new employees' right to work in the United States.

Finally, each year the Northern Arizona University Police Department releases an annual security report. The report is a result of the federal law known as the Clery Act and contains policy statements that address the school’s policies, procedures and programs concerning safety and security including policies for responding to emergency situations and sexual offenses. The report contains three years of data for Clery reportable crime statistics for the campus along with the most current year’s Fire Safety Report, which includes policy statements and fire statistics for Flagstaff on-campus student housing.

This position's pay grade is 43. The salary range for this paygrade can be found on the CLS Grade Schedule.

**The starting salary will be determined by the qualifications of the selected applicant balanced with departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information.

This is a Classified Staff (CLS) position.
