The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley is seeking applications for a tenure track position in the School of Nursing to begin appointment as Coordinator of the BSN Program, Spring 2019 . Duties may include teaching students in classrooms and/or online, simulated laboratories, and clinical settings as well as student advisement. Additional efforts in professional achievement and professional service are expected, and experience working with ethnically diverse populations is a plus.
The BSN Program Director shall provide leadership in the following areas: 1) Coordinate the BSN Program, supervise faculty performance, and manage workload of the assigned faculty; 2) Evaluate the curriculum as required by the accrediting agency on an annual basis; 3) Teach students didactic and/or clinical;4) Advise students about preceptor requirements regarding clinical practice; and 5) Ensure program adherence to the Texas Board of Nursing legislated regulations. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. Minimum Qualifications

Doctorate in nursing or related field from an accredited university. Eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas;

At least 2 years of clinical experience, previous teaching experience at the baccalaureate and/or graduate level(s), and evidence of strong potential for teaching effectiveness, educational leadership, and professional achievement (scholarship, research, creative activity; Administrative experience as a program director preferred.

UTRGV is a distributed institution. As such and as assigned, the position may require presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Work is performed primarily in a general office environment. This position is security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code §51.215. The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.

    A New University with a Long History

    The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley was created by the Texas Legislature in 2013 in a historic move that brings together the resources and assets of UT Brownsville and UT Pan American and, for the first time, makes it possible for residents of the Rio Grande Valley to benefit from the Permanent University Fund—a public endowment contributing support to the University of Texas System and the Texas A&M University System.

     

    Our new university will also be home to a School of Medicine and will transform Texas and the nation by becoming a leader in student success, teaching, research, and health care. UTRGV will enroll its first class in the fall of 2015, and the School of Medicine will open in 2016.

     

    UT Brownsville and UT Pan American

    The shared history of The University of Texas Pan American and The University of Texas at Brownsville goes back to 1927, when Edinburg College was founded. In 1973, Pan American opened a second campus in Brownsville, which later became an independent institution of The University of Texas System in 1991. Over the years, the missions and the identities of these great institutions have continually evolved to serve the communities of the Rio Grande Valley.

    Now, the evolution and connection between these two institutions is coming full circle as UT Brownsville and UT Pan American are being established as a single, new university and medical school, with a single, new identity—The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.
