General Description

Delaware County Community College, a competency-based institution, committed to diversity invites applications for an Admissions Officer in our Admissions department.

The Admissions Officer is responsible for implementing a comprehensive student recruitment program consistent with the College's overall enrollment strategy and marketing plan, with emphasis on financial aid as an integral component of the entry process

Duties

Primary responsibilities include but not limited to: -

  • Provides information regarding enrollment processes, i.e. important deadlines, next steps, introductory delaGATE (web portal) instruction, payment methods (payment plans, due dates), timely completion of financial aid applications.
  • Enhances understanding of admissions and financial aid as a paralleled and fused first step and actively engages students in both processes through completion, among prospective students.
  • Responsible for working with International Housing and Admissions Coordinator to review international student application materials, timely communication to students if materials are missing or insufficient, and issuing I-20's as appropriate. International travel as needed.
  • Works collaboratively with International Student Services to ensure the international student application process is meeting governmental regulations.
  • Serves as one of the Designated School Officials (DSO) for F-1 students.
  • Prepares reports on the status of the international student applicant pool.
  • Participates in day and evening recruitment programs for the purpose of generating interest in the College through presentations and distribution of timely information.
  • Works closely with high schools counselors and staff at community based organizations to recruit students and assist them with the admissions and financial aid application process.
  • Works to develop a recruitment plan to attract a diverse student population to the College.
  • Provides timely responses to prospective students, parents and other interested parties concerning the programs and services at Delaware County Community College. Responses include written, e-mail, telephone and in-person contacts. Public speaking to varying groups as needed.
  • Contributes to the Admissions Office with other initiatives and activities, as necessary.
  • Works closely with local high schools and other potential student sources.
  • Communicates regularly with the Director of Outreach, Recruitment, & Enrollment Services.
  • Uses technology as appropriate to perform responsibilities and develop customer/student relationships.
  • Seeks and uses data to monitor effectiveness; measure outcomes; and adapt process, procedures, and activities accordingly.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications

The ideal candidate must have: -

  • Prior college admissions experience preferred, especially in the areas of international admission and/or diversity recruitment
  • US citizenship or lawful permanent residency required
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree (preferred)
  • Ability to establish relationships with high school counselors and to represent the College professionally
  • Evening and weekend hours are required with this position, travel is required (local and international)
  • Ability to relate to various populations including high school students, parents, and adult students
  • Must possess insured automobile, valid driver's license, and valid passport
  • Working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google Apps
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, written and verbal.
  • Ability to meet with and speak to individuals and groups
  • Ability to work independently or with a group
  • Student-centered; strong customer service
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks, strong organization skills
  • Must enjoy working with a diverse student body
  • Working knowledge of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) SEVIS System (preferred)
  • Fluency in Spanish, French, Vietnamese, Chinese or another language (preferred)

Pennsylvania Act 153 Clearances
Applicants are required to either present to human resources current and valid PA Act 153 clearances or be able to obtain them expediently.
