The University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine, founded in 1946, is dedicated to training future veterinarians, providing services to animal owners and veterinarians, and conducting investigations to improve the health of animals as well as people. The college benefits pets and their owners, food-producing animals, and wildlife by offering the highest quality hospital and diagnostic laboratory services. Requires technical knowledge in the field acquired through an apprenticeship, a 2-year degree, or professional certificate. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualificaitons.

Preferred Qualifications

One or more of the following preferred: Poultry Science major or > 5 years experience working in the poultry industry. Microbiology and laboratory skills. Prior experience working institutional research support (Animal Care, IACUC, Biosafety). Prior customer service experience.

Position Summary

Provide support to the clinical and research activities stemming from the diagnostic workflow.
Work with laboratory management to maintain, update and develop new protocols or procedures to ensure clarity and quality of laboratory procedure, safety of staff, faculty and students, and compliance with relevant rules and regulations.
Provide customer service to domestic and international clients as well as faculty and staff.
Perform accessioning of samples, diagnostic serology and bacteriology, data entry, reporting and filing of results and case review.
Generate reports and analysis of client data as required
Assist management with other duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

Ability to develop protocols or procedures, prioritize work load, pay attention to detail and communicate with staff and clients. Be a highly motivated, innovative and critical thinking individual. Have computer proficiency (with MS office and various other web based programs/platforms).

Some lifting (up to 50lbs). Long periods of standing, sitting, reading and repetitive actions
