Job Summary
The School of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at The University of Southern Mississippi is seeking applicants for the position of Visiting Instructor or Visiting Assistant Teaching Professor of Chemistry on the Gulf Park Campus. The successful candidate will provide instruction in freshman and sophomore chemistry classes and laboratories, supervise and coordinate chemistry laboratories, and advise students.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Teach 12 semester credit hours of freshman and sophomore Chemistry courses and laboratories.
- Supervise and teach Chemistry teaching laboratories
- Mentor teaching assistants in laboratories
- Teach on-line Chemistry courses and labs as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Commitment to excellence in teaching.
Preferred Qualifications
Doctorate degree in Chemistry or Biochemistry or doctorate in a related field with 18 graduate credit hours in Chemistry. (Required for appointment at the rank of Visiting Assistant Teaching Professor.)
College teaching experience.
Experience teaching laboratory courses.
Experience in administrating laboratories.
Experience in teaching on-line classes.
