Job Summary:

The women’s volleyball coach is a member of the Sheridan College (SC) intercollegiate athletics department of the Northern Wyoming Community College District (NWCCD). This position reports directly to the Associate Vice President of Student Affairs / Athletic Director. Sheridan College volleyball competes in Region IX of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). The SC women’s volleyball coach is responsible for managing all operations to maintain a competitive intercollegiate women’s volleyball team. The coach provides leadership and direction to support student-athlete success in the classroom and on the volleyball court. The coach provides leadership and direction to the volleyball coaching staff supporting their professional and career development. This individual is responsible for fundraising for the volleyball program and assisting the SC Booster Club in fundraising for the athletic department. SC volleyball will maintain a positive reputation with the community and SC Booster Club under the head coach’s leadership. The women’s volleyball coach will be a positive contributor to the athletic department while working closely with other coaches to coordinate court times for practices and games. Provide essential supervision to assistant coaches, managers, and student employees.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Earned baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution of higher learning.
  • Demonstrated successful coaching experience at secondary or post-secondary levels.  

Preferred Qualifications

  • Earned master’s degree from an accredited institution of higher learning.
  • Five years of successful coaching experience at the collegiate level.
  • The ability to recruit student-athletes to a rural community college volleyball program.

 Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of NJCAA rules
  • Demonstrated experience of running a successful volleyball program
  • Ability to communicate (written and orally)
  • Thorough understanding and ability to teach volleyball principles
  • Ability to apply technology and social media platforms to enhance the program
  • Knowledge and familiarity with recruiting and its associated networks
  • Maintain working knowledge of and ensure compliance with Title IX and Clery Act Campus Safety Authority guidelines and responsibilities and related college procedures and expectations.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work extended hours, weekends, and periods of time outside the traditional academic calendar
  • Adaptable to travel for games and recruiting
  • Comfortable working with representatives of the media
  • Comfortable working with members of college staff and community members
