Job Description:

The Egyptology Program in the Sociology, Egyptology and Anthropology Department (SEA), at the American University in Cairo is seeking applications for a three-year position as Assistant or Associate Professor in Egyptology with a starting date in Fall 2019 or Spring 2020. Candidates should have a research focus in Egyptian language (all levels from Old to Late, including hieratic; demotic and/or Coptic would be a plus), religion, and supporting interests chosen from digital humanities, art, archaeology, bio-archaeology, or history. The main duties will entail teaching undergraduate and graduate students, as well as actively participating in departmental life. The annual teaching load is 3-3.


Requirements:

A completed PhD and teaching experience are required.

Successful candidates should have an ongoing program of research and publication and a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching. Responsibilities include undergraduate as well as graduate teaching, an active program of research and publications, and service to the Department and the University.
