The IT Security Analyst is a hands on operational security position that requires technical understanding of logical events across the campus as well as an understanding of security risks.

This position monitors and investigates events through complex systems and participates in providing 24×7 security services as necessary.

Generates operational reports for actionable findings, follows incident response flow chart to determine level of responsibility through forensically sound investigation practices and providing written technical reports to the response team to inform on progress and findings or if action from other area is appropriate.

Assist Information Security Specialists in public records request and E -Discovery, assists Information Security Specialists in the remediation of system threats. Assists Information Security Specialists in conducting Information Security assessments and engagements, presents IT Security Awareness training and engages campus to foster a culture of security.

Monitors security communication channels to align our security monitoring and alerting in order to reduce risk and vulnerabilities for the university.

Detailed Job DescriptionMinimum Requirements

Minimum of a four-year degree in Information Systems or related field.

Two years experience working in an IT related field.

List the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the essential functions of the position

• Proven technical experience in solving complex security issues involving IT environments

• Demonstrable knowledge of general network, server administration, and security topics

• Ability to identify common vulnerabilities and related attack vectors, and risks

• Knowledge of general incident response principles, security assessment processes, and metrics collection and reporting

• Ability to interpret and apply IT security policies and procedures

• Ability to maintain successful working relationships within a team environment

• Excellent organizational, interpersonal, time management, project management, written and oral communications skills, including strong presentation skills

Preferred formal education, professional skills and work experience

•Security+ce equivalent or greater level appropriate certification

•Work experience with the following or similar technologies: SIEM, IPS / IDS, EDR, Linux, Encryption and cryptography, vulnerability and penetration testing
