The Controller reports to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Finance and serves as a member of the financial leadership team. The Controller oversees Accounts Payable, Payroll, General Accounting, Travel, Accounts Receivable, Student Accounts, Tax Accounting, and Financial Reporting.

Minimum Requirements

•Bachelors’ Degree in Accounting or closely related field from an accredited university

List the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the essential functions of the position

•Five years of progressive fiscal responsibility
•Demonstrated skills and proficiency with leadership and supervision
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills
•Evidence of building collegian relationships and effective work groups across departments
•Experience with office productivity software
•Ability to prioritize, manage and successfully complete multiple tasks
•Thorough knowledge of accounting theories, principles, and systems design
•Ability to interpret and apply complex laws and regulations

Preferred formal education, professional skills and work experience

•Master of Science Accountancy (MSA), MBA, or closely related degree
•Ten years of progressive fiscal responsibility
•Certified Public Accountant
•Experience in higher education and/or governmental accounting

Primary purpose of the division, department, and/or grant

The Finance team within the Division of Business Affairs supports the University’s mission, strategic vision, goals, and objectives by providing key financial services efficiently and effectively. The Finance team provides financial services directly to students and the campus community. Units within Finance include the Controller’s Office, the Office of Budget and Financial Analytics, Purchasing Services, and Financial Systems.
