DEPARTMENT:              FINANCE AND REAL ESTATE                     

POSITION:                    ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR- TENURED/ TENURE-TRACK  

The Department of Finance and Real Estate invites applications for a full-time tenured or tenure-track faculty appointment (at assistant, associate or full professor) commencing September 1, 2019.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful candidate will teach graduate and undergraduate courses in the areas of FinTech, Financial Risk Management, and Data Science at New Jersey City University’s Jersey City and Monmouth County, New Jersey campuses. Teaching responsibilities will include curriculum design and development. The successful candidate will also be expected to engage in research in the field, contribute to marketing and promoting the programs, and participate in service activities at the university.

EDUCATION: : Candidates should have an earned doctorate, or provide evidence that it will be completed prior to the end of AY 2019-20, in a relevant field such as Finance, Business Analytics, Computer Science, Decision Sciences, Statistics, Information Systems, etc. A wide variety of academic backgrounds will be considered. In extraordinary cases, as determined by the University, a terminal degree may not be required.

EXPERIENCE: Industry experience, teaching and research interests related to Big Data such as: Data management - Data modelling, Data storage (NoSQL etc.), Data processing (Apache Hadoop, Apache Spark etc.). Data Mining / Business analytics – Applied Machine Learning, predictive modeling, and research design etc. Data Visualization and Communication.  Evidence of demonstrated experience with data-driven techniques in the fields of Finance, such as credit modeling, blockchain and digital currencies, digital advisory and trading systems, financial information systems, entrepreneurial finance, payments systems, and risk management. Evidence of excellence in teaching and the ability to teach a variety of courses in the Finance and Data Science programs at the Undergraduate and Masters Level. Excellent written, organizational and communication skills.
