Job Summary:
Lamar University Study Abroad is committed to promoting and facilitating student mobility and international engagement through study abroad programs. Study abroad encourages transformative learning opportunities that foster academic development, personal growth, and intercultural competence that are indispensable elements of a quality education in today’s global society.

Reporting to the Study Abroad Director, the Coordinator’s responsibilities include:

•Promote study abroad on campus and recruit students to the programs. This includes participation in all campus activities and promotional opportunities
•Track each applicant’s progress in completing the study abroad application according to schedule
•Advise study abroad applicants concerning program options, the application process, and Lamar’s financial and academic policies and protocols
•Maintain accurate student files and records
•Communicate with Financial Aid and Scholarships regarding billing and budgets for study abroad
•Be a primary contact for Emergency Response Team in risk management and emergency response for students abroad
•Keep updates on Health and Risk Management issues for study abroad program destinations
•Assume the role as the primary contact person for incidents during the study abroad programs
•Collect, analyze, and share study abroad data with various stakeholders
•Recruit and organize study abroad returnees to volunteer as peer advisors
•Serve as liaison with partner institutions and study abroad providers
•Collaborate with other staff on social media, website, print, and other promotional efforts
•Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree in a related field of study
•Effective communication and excellent technological, organizational, and multi-tasking skills
•Demonstrated proficiency with word processing, database, and spreadsheets
•Experiences in risk management, preferably in higher education
•Strong high-touch customer service skills required
•Demonstrated commitment to work within a diverse environment and interact openly with individuals of different backgrounds
•Ability to work in the fast-pace environment with multi-tasks
•Evidence of skills related to marketing and/or public relations
•Ability/willingness to work in the evenings and on weekends

•Master’s degree in a related field
•Experience with study abroad program
•Experience with web designs and developing and delivering webinars
•Knowledge of FERPA regulations and higher education institutions
•Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in fast-paced environment
•Ability to organize and prioritize work without direct supervision, and as part of an independent team of professional staff members
•Ability to collaborate with team members to identify, establish and promote best practices for the office
•Proficiency in a second language
