The Wright State University Foundation Board of Trustees invites applications, nominations and expressions of interest for the position of Foundation President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

The position of CEO is a new opportunity for the Foundation and has been created to provide entrepreneurial leadership to this already existing Foundation.  The new leader shall have the opportunity to advance new strategies focused around intentional growth, building the endowment to new levels, new partnerships and relationships, undertaking new revenue generating opportunities, and putting existing funds to work in more focused and value creating ways.  The Trustees are seeking a person experienced with creating business strategy and vision. The Board sees this opportunity for the right dynamic leader as one that will reshape the future of the Wright State University Foundation and lead it to new levels of success.

The Wright State University Foundation, established in 1966, was created to support the mission of Wright State University. The mission of the Foundation is stated as “To partner with Wright State University in promoting and facilitating a culture of engagement and philanthropy by raising funds and managing and distributing the resources entrusted to us in support of the University’s mission and priorities”.

The Foundation is categorized as an institutionally-related foundation, meaning its sole purpose is to support the mission of Wright State University. It is a 501(c)(3) organization and is a wholly separate corporation from Wright State University with its own Board of Trustees, Articles of Incorporation, and policies pertaining to conducting its business.

The engagement of this new leader is critical to meeting the needs of both the University and the Foundation. This individual is being recruited at a time when the Foundation must think differently about its responsibilities to the students, employees, alumni and donors, the University, and to the community. Each of these entities is looking to the Foundation to be a source of ideas, strategic vision, partnerships, revenue, and investment opportunities.  The Board is committed to leading the Foundation into new territory and is looking for the right person of vision to help design the way forward.

The CEO will be an employee of the Foundation and report directly to the Chair of the WSU Foundation Board of Trustees, and to the Board members. The CEO will have a dotted-line relationship to the President of Wright State University. Additionally, this position will collaborate with senior administration of the University including the Provost, Chief Business Officer, Deans, and Vice Presidents. It is intended that the Foundation CEO will be invited to join the President’s Leadership Team.

It is also anticipated the CEO will have a very close collaboration with the Vice President of University Advancement. This position will also be new to the University and will report directly to the University President. It will be critically important that the VP/Advancement and the CEO be committed to working closely to meet the strategic initiatives of both the University and the Foundation.

The ideal candidate will be an innovative, entrepreneurial, self-starter and experienced leader of unquestioned integrity.  The CEO will be an exceptional communicator with outstanding relationship-building skills, along with the leadership and management experience and talent necessary to shape and implement the vision for the Foundation's future. A Bachelor’s Degree is required, an advanced degree is preferred.
