Position Summary:

The Assistant Registrar for Portfolio Management will be a self-assured, congenial, and productive member of the Office of the Registrar's Leadership Team. As an innovative and contributing member of the Leadership Team, the incumbent will assist in the establishment of the strategic short- and long-term direction of the office that enables the University of Wisconsin-Madison's Office of the Registrar to become an institutional resource with acknowledged credibility as a highly productive and collaborative partner with campus constituencies as well as a national model known for creativity, innovation, and service.

This position coordinates and assists in gathering and organizing the extensive data and documentation for the Office of the Registrar's projects and special initiatives. The incumbent will provide expertise, support and assistance in the area of project and portfolio management for the Office of the Registrar by tracking the completion of tasks to provide status and completion reports to management that relate to project goals. The incumbent will track and analyze specific project goals and milestones to help ensure projects are completed on time by utilizing established quality measures. The person in this role will work closely with developers, business analysts, security and IT leaders, functional staff, and other campus partners to provide project management leadership and expertise. The person in this role will be responsible for ensuring that project goals are accomplished.

The incumbent must demonstrate a passion and commitment for exploring and implementing strategies that contribute to the sustained development of Office of the Registrar staff. The ability to build rapport and maintain professional relationships with on- and off-campus partners to continually enhance the student experience and support the teaching and learning mission of the institution is critical.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

Bachelor's degree required, master's degree preferred.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

-Minimum 1 year of relevant professional experience in higher education required, preferably in a project management related setting.
-Deep subject matter expertise in managing a complex portfolio encompassing both formalized programs, projects, and out-of-cycle requests
-Ability to manage projects - set clear goals, hold others accountable and ensure successful delivery (on time, within budget, meeting agreed upon success criteria) Also includes the ability to develop project plans, prioritize and allocate resources, identify potential issues/risks and develop contingency plans
-Ability to convert qualitative and quantitative data and findings into applied, specific information and make suggestions that add value to business planning and program evaluation
-Strong knowledge of the integrated systems lifecycle development utilizing different and/or multiple development models (e.g., agile, waterfall, hybrid, etc.)
-Proficiency in project scheduling and enterprise project management software applications to support the goals of an organization
-Comfort and ability exercising professional judgment in high-stakes decisions
-Excellent organizational skills with demonstrated ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
-Supervisory experience is desirable
-Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
-Demonstrated leadership and initiative developing innovative solutions
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills
-Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy of work
-Perform all work with integrity, humility, and respect of others
