Job no: 496303
Position type: full-time
Location: Lewisburg, PA
Categories: Accounting & Financial Management

The Accounting & Financial Management (ACFM) Department at Bucknell University's Freeman College of Management seeks to hire two full-time, tenure-track faculty members in the areas of financial accounting, auditing and/or tax to begin in fall 2020. We will consider outstanding candidates at all ranks, with rank being commensurate with experience. Candidates should possess a PhD or a DBA in Accounting, or have ABD status with the requirement that they complete their doctoral degree before their second year at Bucknell.

Financial accounting candidates should be willing and able to teach both introductory and upper-level courses in financial accounting. Auditing candidates should be willing and able to teach auditing and assurance and introductory financial accounting. Tax candidates should be willing and able to teach individual and corporate tax as well as financial accounting. Candidates' abilities to teach other courses such as accounting information systems and non-profit accounting will be viewed favorably. Successful candidates must demonstrate, through education, certification or professional experience, proficiency in US GAAP. Candidates with the CPA and/or CIA credential and professional auditing experience in the US will have an advantage among those applying to teach auditing. Professional experience and certification (e.g., CPA) are also considered very positive complements to the academic qualifications for those applying to teach financial accounting and tax. Demonstrated competence for high quality scholarship (commensurate with the applicable rank) and excellence in undergraduate teaching to a diverse student body are required. The teaching load for this position is five course sections per academic year. Salary is AACSB competitive.

The Freeman College, an AACSB-accredited unit, offers innovative professional education in the context of one of the nation's leading liberal arts universities. We believe that an education that combines technical skills and deep intellectual exploration is the best preparation for thoughtful and capable leaders. Thus, we seek faculty members capable of contributing to this mission.

The Freeman College embraces the teacher-scholar model. The accounting faculty at Bucknell has varied research interests including ethics, forensic accounting, whistleblowing, governance, restatements and earnings calls, and they employ behavioral, archival and textual analysis methodologies.

MANAGEMENT MAJORS AT BUCKNELL

APPLICATION
A review of applications will begin no later than June 30, 2019 and will continue until the position is filled. For additional information and to apply, please visit Bucknell's career site at careers.bucknell.edu.

Complete applicant files must include a letter of application, a current CV (including the names and contact information of three references), evidence of teaching effectiveness (student course evaluations with both numerical ratings and comments, if available), a statement of teaching philosophy, a statement of scholarly goals, and a diversity statement. We do not anticipate interviewing candidates at the 2019 AAA Annual Meeting; rather, we will be conducting video interviews with those candidates we select to move forward in the process. When the Search Committee determines that a candidate should be considered for an on-campus visit, the Chair will contact him or her to request samples of scholarship and three letters of reference. Please do not submit scholarship samples and letters of reference until requested. Questions about the application process should be addressed to Rachel Fisher, ACFM Administrative Assistant, at 570-577-3383.
