Job Summary:

The University of Colorado School of Medicine,Department of Pediatrics, Section of Emergency Medicine in conjunction withChildren's Hospital Colorado (CHCO) is seeking PEMs committedto the care of acutely ill and injured children to staff our CHCO Network ofCare (NOC).  The CHCO NOC consists of 5locations in the Denver metro area that provide emergency medicine and urgentcare services to over 80,000 children annually. We are closely allied with our Level 1 ED located at the Anschutz Campusthat sees an additional 70,000 pts annually.

There is an average of 4 shifts/week incorporatingbedside teaching of medical students and residents; Emergency Medicine Sectionengagement through monthly meetings, continuing education/skills maintenanceand participation in hospital Quality Improvement; and a fast-paced environmentin which to use your knowledge of pediatric illness and injury patterns.


PLEASE NOTE: Candidates maybe responsible for travel expenses related to the interview process and anyrelocation expenses, if applicable.

Salaryand Benefits:

The salary for this position is commensurate with skills and experience.  Thisposition is not eligible for overtime compensation.

Qualifications

Examples of WorkPerformed:

  • Provision of pediatric emergency care in the Children's Hospital Colorado Emergency Department possibility one or more of the satellite emergency departments and urgent care sites.
  • Teaching of house staff and medical students,
  • Referring facilities and physicians,
  • Transport teams, families and the broader community
  • Participation in and support of the clinical research activities of the Section of Emergency Medicine. 
  • MinimumQualifications:
  • MD or DO degree, board certification in Pediatrics.
  • Board certification/eligibility in Pediatric Emergency Medicine or Emergency Medicine
  • Completion of fellowship training in Pediatric Emergency Medicine. 
  • Experience with pediatric patient population; pediatric emergency, critical care or urgent care exposure ideal. 
  •  Conditionsof Employment:

    • Must be willing and able to successfully pass a 10-panel drug test
    • Must be willing and able to successfully pass a national criminalbackground check
    • Ability to work day, night, weekend and holiday shifts.

     PreferredQualifications:

  • 2 or more years' experience in emergency care setting.
  • Experience teaching medical students and residents
  • Previous experience with Quality Improvement or development of Clinical Care Guidelines
  •  Competencies:

  • Proven administrative and leadership ability.
  • Ability to handle fast paced acute care environment
  • Demonstrated professionalism and teamwork mentality
  • Strong interpersonal skills with effective communication styles to work with our diverse patient population
  • Outstanding clinical skills including experience with reading plain films, foreign body removal, suturing, incision and drainage, lumbar puncture and experience or interest in procedural sedation.
  • Strong track record in clinical program development, research, and education.
