Based in Los Angeles, California, LMU is a private, co-educational, Catholic university rooted in the Jesuit and Marymount traditions that was founded in 1911. Reporting to the Vice Provost for Enrollment Management, this position oversees the administration of financial aid from all sources to all LMU populations, including undergraduate, graduate, and law students.
The Assistant Vice Provost will oversee a staff of 21 while administering annual financial aid expenditures in excess of $200 million. The Assistant Vice Provost will lead a strategic, forward thinking, data driven, and systems sophisticated Financial Aid office within the dynamic and successful Enrollment Management division at LMU, which also includes Undergraduate and Graduate Admission, the Registrar, Career and Professional Development, Enrollment Marketing and Communication, and Research and Special Projects.
We seek candidates who hold a bachelor’s degree, with a master’s degree preferred. The ideal candidate possesses a minimum of eight years of relevant experience gained in progressively responsible roles in an academic community. Focused experience with and understanding of the use of systems employed to manage and report on financial aid operations, and a demonstrated understanding of regulatory compliance matters concerning all financial aid functions including institutional, federal, state, NCAA, and other outside agency requirements is expected. Other required qualifications include experience with counseling students and families on financial aid resources, and providing expert guidance to university colleagues and outside organizations on financial aid policies and procedures, as well as demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of trends in higher education and financial aid, and skill in developing and implementing automated procedures, regulations, legislation, and practices. Candidates should possess exemplary communication skills (both written and oral) and highly developed organizational and customer service skills.
