DESCRIPTION

The Sanford Stem Cell Clinical Center multi-specialty clinic, located within the Koman Family Outpatient Pavilion at UC San Diego Health, includes specialized care of patients and early phase clinical trials with Cell Therapies. The Sanford Stem Cell Clinical Center is devoted to accelerating the translation of all types of stem cell research to safe and effective therapies.

The Sanford Stem Cell Clinical Center attracts patients, funding agencies and study sponsors to participate in, support, and accelerate novel stem cell clinical trials and ancillary studies for a range of difficult diseases. The Sanford Stem Cell Clinical Center is a wide-ranging collaboration with unique contributions from UC San Diego Health, the Sanford Consortium for Regenerative Medicine, industrial sponsors, and philanthropy launched by the $100M Sanford Gift, and by CIRM through the Alpha Clinic and other grants.

Under general supervision of the Ambulatory Care Patient Manager, the RN identifies and implements nursing interventions and evaluate results for a wide variety of patient populations in the ambulatory care licensed setting. Promotes patient and staff education. Achieves trust in professional collegial relationships within the context of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches to patient care.

In addition, the RN will perform study related procedures as dictated by the study protocol for patients participating in the clinical trials under the supervision of the Ambulatory Care Patient Manager and Principal Investigators. Serves as physician/patient liaison, with the Cell and Regenerative Team and other departments. Ensures all guidelines are adhered to. Collaborates with other specialties as directed by the Ambulatory Care Patient Manager.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be a graduate from an accredited school of Nursing.

  • Current valid Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the state of California.

  • BART or BLS certification at time of hire with commitment to obtain BART training within six months of hire date.

  • ART or ACLS certification at time of hire with commitment to obtain ART training within six months of hire date.

  • Minimum of two years of recent acute care RN experience in BMT, Oncology and Infusion.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, using tact and diplomacy in order to interact effectively with all levels of professional staff and a diversity of patients.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • A Bachelor's of Science in Nursing.
  • Ambulatory Care (Clinic) experience.
  • Research Experience and Certified Clinical Research Coordinator (CCRC).
  • Knowledge of Stem Cells.
  • OCN certification
