Working Hours:

Consists of a 25-hour work week Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. exclusive of a ½ hour or 1 hour lunch. Tuesday mornings are required. Remaining hours are to be spread over a four or five-day weekly schedule. Specific work hours to be agreed upon between the supervisor and employee prior to the onset of employment.

Summary:

The Accounts Payable Clerk reports to the Manager of Accounts Payable and Payroll and is responsible for disbursement functions including the recording of vouchers, researching of statements and invoices, and responding to vendor and employee inquiries. Specifically, the Accounts Payable Clerk performs the following duties:

  • Research invoices & purchase orders
  • Create & maintain vouchers
  • Prepare payment reports to run checks
  • Prepare ad-hoc reports on vendors or accounts as required
  • Maintain vendor files
  • Respond to vendor inquiries
  • Respond to voucher inquiries
  • Provide professional internal and external customer service
  • Sign, verify, and distribute AP checks and sign AR checks weekly
  • Perform other related accounts payable duties as assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:

Required: High school diploma required. At least one year of data entry, cashiering, bookkeeping or related experience.

Preferred: Bookkeeping or accounting courses desirable. One year of accounts payable experience preferred. Current or former RACC student majoring in business or accounting preferred.

Communication Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to read and interpret legal contracts and federal and state grant documents. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to use PV tables and factors.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of computerized accounting systems and controls, as well as experience with Word Processing software. Must possess a high level of proficiency and expertise in the use of spreadsheet software.
