Vice President of Admissions and Financial Aid

Hesston College seeks candidates for Vice President of Admissions and Financial Aid. The vice president reports to the president and is a member of the Administrative Council. This position provides strategic direction and leadership for the Admissions and Financial Aid departments, establishing direction and goals, analyzing data and tracking and measuring success, with special emphasis on the college’s global engagement initiatives. The vice president is responsible for championing the vision and strategy of the college within their sphere of responsibility. Primary responsibilities include:

  • Executive Oversight – Lead the process to set overall vision and direction for areas of oversight. Establish direction and goals for respective areas of oversight, track and measure success.
  • Admissions – Oversee all domestic and international recruitment efforts with all admissions staff reporting to this position. Specific markets of focus include Mennonite, athletics, international, performing arts, bachelor’s degree programs, etc. This includes researching and implementing best practices; understanding regional, national and international admissions trends; goal setting and monitoring goal progress regularly. Offer creative problem solving as situations arise to ensure recruitment success. Set an engaged and driven culture for admissions counselors and support staff with an exceptional customer service focus.
  • Financial Aid – Support the director and associate director of Financial Aid. Engage in price setting conversations and set discount rate, working with staff to carry out decisions. Understand student needs and unique situations as well as Hesston College’s position within its markets. Review and make determination on exceptions related to financial aid. Work with team to launch new initiatives or adjust financial aid practices in an effort to maximize enrollment.
  • Global Engagement – Support the dean of Global Engagement in identifying potential strategies for pushing out diversity and inclusion and global engagement initiatives.
  • Public Engagement – Be available for public engagements both on and off campus representing all aspects of the college.
  • Special Projects – Actively seek new initiatives to push out the mission of Hesston College.

Preferred background includes a doctorate in a related field (i.e. business, communication, education administration, etc.) or equivalent combination of education and experience in lieu of degree, and five years experience in a position that shows an increase in responsibility and oversight, to include previous experience working within customer management systems (CRMs). Minimum qualifications for this position include a master’s degree in a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience in lieu of degree) and at least five years in a position of relevant experience.
