Preferred Qualifications

Prefers a bachelor’s degree in computer science or related or professional certification in general IT support AND 3-5 years of professional experience in the general IT support area preferably at UGA or University system of Georgia.

Position Summary

This position will work as part of a team responsible for all aspects of IT needs within the Center for Family Research (CFR) and for affiliated individuals or organizations. S/he will serve as the primary contact for general IT support including but not limited to computer, tablet, hardware, software and network support, and troubleshoot and resolve hardware or software issues and lead or support all IT needs for CFR research projects according to the requirements. This position will also support a system administrator on in-house server maintenances or database administration duties as needed. Perform other duties as assigned to accommodate ever changing IT business needs. Be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with IT professionals as well as non-IT staff. This position is expected to provide the high quality customer support services with adequate soft skills to interact with non-IT staff on a daily basis. The strongest candidates will have a high work ethic, excellent problem solving, organization and communication skills, superior customer service skills, and work well both independently and as part of a team. The ability to self-motivate and stay proactive will be critical. The ability to walk around and the building and up and down stairs unassisted, and the ability to lift and carry typical desktop computer equipment or printers frequently is necessary.

General IT Support:
•Provide and oversee all IT support tasks on a daily basis
•Monitor and maintain the ticket system; assign duties as needed
•Ensure all tickets and requests are addressed as expected and in a timely manner
•Make a sound plan to enhance general IT support at CFR for efficiency and to increase customer satisfaction
•Execute the approved general IT support plan accordingly
•Update and upgrade hardware and software accordingly
•Train staff and administrators on software or hardware as necessary
•Promote efficient use of IT hardware and software across all staff and affiliates
•Maintain an industry standard hardware replacement process
•Provide consultation on all things IT as requested
•Primary contact and liaison for all things IT
•Maintain up-to-date documentation on all things and store on the IT shared OneDrive
