People and Operations Analyst - Georgetown University School of Foreign Service

Requirements

The School of Foreign Service (SFS) was founded in 1919 as a direct response to the involvement of the United States in the First World War. The establishment of a program at Georgetown dedicated to educating students on global issues and preparing them for lives of service in the international arena reflected both the University's Jesuit heritage, with its emphasis on intercultural understanding, and its origins as an institution of the American Enlightenment, dedicated to the rights of man and the education of citizens.

The Center for Security and Emerging Technology (CSET) is focused on studying the security impacts of emerging technologies, supporting academic work in security and technology studies, and delivering nonpartisan analysis to technologists and policymakers. Initial focus will be on artificial intelligence and advanced computing.

The People and Operations Analyst will report to the Center's Director of Operations and will help develop and build the CSET team by supporting recruitment, training, and business transactions:

GMS and Business Process Management:
  • Reviewing financial transactions in the Georgetown Management System (Workday), ensuring that all data is accurately entered to ensure effective financial management;
  • Preparing and processing travel reimbursements for job candidates and other transactions when necessary;
  • Initiating and tracking contracts and requisitions in compliance with University policies and purchasing guidelines, escalating critical issues as necessary;

HR and Talent Management:
  • Developing position descriptions for new CSET positions for review and submission;
  • Supporting a robust talent sourcing and recruitment strategy to ensure diverse hiring for open CSET positions;
  • Supporting hiring managers with applicant screening and initial down-selection;
  • Coordinating research fellows training program, including scheduling of guest lecturers, coordination of site visits, and evaluation of training performance via surveys;

Office and Operations Support:
  • Providing administrative support to CSET senior management, as needed;

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field;
  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience providing administrative, operations, HR, talent, and/or project management support;
  • Ability to carry on assigned tasks with limited need for supervision;
  • Proficiency with office productivity tools like Google Docs, Microsoft Office, etc.;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and critical thinking skills; and
  • Motivated, enthusiastic and self-driven.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Systems-focused, with the ability to design and manage systems to smoothly handle complicated processes
  • Exposure to policy making staff (e.g., Hill or DOD);
  • Familiarity with talent sourcing tools like LinkedIn Recruiter;
