Salary:
Salary Range: $3,897 - $6,846 per month

Anticipated Hiring Salary: $4,000 per month

Note: This is a full-time, probationary, exempt position.

Overview:
Reporting to the University's Assistant Vice President of International Affairs (AVPIA), the International Outreach Coordinator coordinates efforts to initiate and implement recruitment and marketing initiatives with a high level of confidentiality, judgement, and leadership for International Office. The majority of work encompasses the coordination of activities to implement international recruitment and marketing initiatives, and administrative and analytical duties covering both operational and program-oriented research, analysis, reporting, and evaluation.

Focused on student recruitment and marketing, incumbents in the position perform a full range of analytical work related to identifying enrollment and marketing strategies. Major duties include analyzing markets and related demographics along with developing internal/external strategies, business models, partnerships, and agreements. Work requires applying a theoretical knowledge base to develop recommendations and conclusions to implement new approaches and processes.

Incumbents in the position also provide leadership in coordinating efforts to implement recruitment and marketing strategies. Responsibilities include overseeing administrative operations and providing lead work direction for the implementation of strategies as directed by the AVPIA.

Excellent cross-cultural knowledge and people skills are essential. Operational and fiscal analysis related to ISSP programming is required as well. The position requires exercising excellent and timely judgment of information dissemination and spontaneous decision making challenges using effective and professional initiative, organizational time management experience.

Position Summary:
  • Research and analyze domestic/international markets and related demographics pertaining to recruitment of international students
  • Participate in the development and implementation of comprehensive marketing plan for successful recruitment based on findings and best practices
  • Manage recruitment agents and collaborative partners, such as recruiting, training, evaluating, engaging, and monitoring agents/collaborative partners, as well as develop and implement international agreements with agents and collaborative partners
  • Analyze and evaluate recruitment fairs, and other recruitment platforms independently and make recommendations to AVP on strategic selections
  • Develop audience specific marketing materials and processes, including promotional brochures, flyers, powerpoint presentations, social media, ebrochures and eflyers in different languages or targeting different countries
  • Participate in the recruitment of international students both in the United States and overseas
  • Recommend strategic recruitment and marketing trips for AVPIA and coordinate logistics for his/her travel itineraries and promotional agenda
  • Coordinate high quality events, ranging from institutional partnership signing ceremony, school visits, summer programs, information sessions and presentations and coordinator or support the implementation
  • Represent AVPIA to meetings on campus or overseas in matters relating to international recruitment and marketing
  • Other duties as assigned

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Proficient in the English language
  • Working knowledge of student recruitment and marketing theories, principles, practices, and techniques
  • Skill in the research, development, and evaluation of international recruitment, including the collection, evaluation, and interpretation of data to develop sound conclusions and make appropriate recommendations
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interpret, organize, and present information and ideas in written or presentation form
  • Ability to:
    o Travel internationally as required
    o Anticipate potential issues and address them proactively
    o Analyze and develop existing/proposed student recruitment and retention practices and make recommendations to the AVPIA and CGE leadership on how to improve
    o Train others on new skills and procedures and provide lead work direction as needed
    o Independently handle multiple work unit priorities and projects
    o Independently apply a wide variety of policies and procedures where specific guidelines may not exist
    o Organize and retain sensitive information and interpersonal contacts
  • A history of regular attendance and positive performance evaluations

    Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent training and administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs
  • Two years of recent professional experience in international student recruitment and marketing in a progressively responsible position
  • Experience investigating and analyzing international markets and demographics to positively impact recruitment of international students to campus
  • Experience planning, organizing, coordinating, and performing international recruitment and retention activities where numerous and diverse demands are involved; activities to include foreign and domestic travel and networking with contacts in such environments

    Specialized Skills:
  • Proficient in utilizing campus supported information management systems: PeopleSoft HCM, Reports Portfolio and Time Administration (financial, HR and student administration on-line applications), required for completion of daily tasks and position assignments.
  • Proficient in using social media platforms and technology for recruitment and marketing purposes.

    Preferred Skills:
  • Master's degree
  • Experience working within a University setting
  • Knowledge of CSU and Fresno State policies, procedures, and other outside regulations pertaining to international student services and the recruitment and retention of such students
  • Ability to speak a second language
  • Experience living and working overseas
