Job Details
As an extension of Academic Success & Student Engagement, the Tutoring Coordinator manages the Academic Success Center (ASC).
Supervises several classified employees, as well as part time Tutors and various student peer tutors.
Develops, implements and communicates the strategic vision for ASC, including Peer Tutoring and Math Tutoring & support. Oversees the development and implementation of Center initiatives that champion best learning support practices. Trains and supervises the Specialists and Assistants. Develops annual goals and assessment processes. Develops and manages unit’s annual budget. Works with campus divisions on initiatives that aim to increase student success, retention and graduation rates. Serves on VCCS, college, and campus committees to promote student success.
Minimum QualificationsMaster’s Degree in education, curriculum, or related field of study or equivalent applicable experience or training.
Several years’ experience teaching or providing direct tutoring. some experience in leadership capacity (including: hiring, training, and supervising at least part-time staff). Experience in program development and project management.
Experience in community college; higher education. Experience in maintaining a budget. Experience working with diverse and special needs populations. Successful at grant-writing and outcome measures. Working knowledge of LMS and other education technology.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesExperience in leadership, academic support, and instruction in higher education. Experience managing a diverse team (from various academic fields). Solid knowledge of tutoring theories and methodologies; program development and program evaluation; curriculum evaluation; and adult learning styles. Solid background in higher education leadership; working with diverse student population, and individual/group assessment. Demonstrated ability to multi-task in a fast-paced team environment. Excellent written and verbal communications skills
