TheDepartment of Pediatrics Section of PediatricGastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition, has an opening for a part-time (0.5 FTE) Instructor position. TheSection of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at theUniversity of Colorado Denver and Children’s Hospital Colorado on the AnschutzMedical Campus is seeking a part-time Pediatric Nurse Practitioner or PhysicianAssistant to participate in the inpatient clinical activities of our 24physician Section. To specify, this position will care for pediatric patientsadmitted to the inpatient Gastroenterology (GI) and Hepatology service atChildren’s Hospital Colorado. This includes a variety of either common and/orcomplex disorders, typically in patients with primary GI/Liver diagnoses and/orprimary admission problems. The APP would be expected to round daily with theGastroenterology/Liver care team and work closely with the inpatient pediatricresident team, as well as other hospital consultants. Daily responsibilitieswould include patient/family communication and physical examinations onpatients, determination of treatment plans, documentation in electronic medicalrecord (Epic), and clinical availability to nursing staff and families andother care team members during the day. This APP will work closely with NurseCase Managers and outpatient clinical teams to facilitate seamlessinpatient-outpatient transitions for admitted patients. This APP will helporient inpatient residents to the GI/Liver service as they begin theirrotations on the team. Also, attendance and participation in educational andadministrative conferences within the Digestive Health Institute is expected. Salarywill depend on level of experience. State Board certification required. Thisposition is at the academic rank of Instructor or Senior Instructor.

Salaryand Benefits:

The salary range for this position is commensuratewith skills and experience. This position is not eligiblefor overtime compensation.

Examples of Work Performed:

  • Evaluation and management of pediatric inpatients with gastrointestinal and nutritional disorders in outpatient setting at Children's Hospital Colorado main campus and/or Network of Care facilities.
  • Assist attending physicians and fellowship trainees in providing care to patients in outpatient clinics at Children's Hospital Colorado main campus and/or Network of Care facilities.
  • Patient management and family education.
  • MinimumRequirements

  • MSN or MPAS degree and APN and PA-C certification required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in patient management and follow up.
  • Pediatric experience and training required.
  • *Academicrank will be decided at time of negotiation and will depend on previousacademic experience.

    PreferredQualifications:

  • Previous experience with pediatric gastroenterology patients.
  • Previous experience in an inpatient setting.
  • Previous experience in an academic institution
  • Acute care certification
  • Competencies:

  • Knowledge of the pediatric clinical population.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow direction and task, patient management and follow up.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Additional clinical skills in a gastroenterology setting.
