Description

The LPN Nurse atthe Lewis Katz School of Medicine’s Department of Medicine – Section ofCardiology, will assist in delivering high quality, efficient medical care topatients in an outpatient setting. The incumbent will support the faculty andfellows with patient care management. 

Responsibilities include: supporting the Electrophysiology program by engaging inremote device check work under the direction of the faculty, fellows and APPs;including monitoring device portals, contacting patients regarding devicetransmission, and coordinating device appointments or necessary follow-up todiscuss other cardiac issues; conductingcomprehensive nursing assessments, obtaining patient history and vital signs;administering injections, blood draws, IVs and medications; maintaining recordsof vital statistics and other pertinent patient data in the EMR system;appropriately fielding/triaging patient telephone calls regarding medicationchanges, clinical status, prescription renewals, changes in condition etc.;providing individual assistance to patients, families and caregivers to helpidentify and overcome barriers which may hinder quality medical patient care;providing information and feedback to referring physicians and third partypayers; scheduling patient admissions and transfers and other tests forassessment and evaluation of blood diseases; and obtaining requiredprecertification or prior authorization to assure the timely approvals ofpatients complex treatments and drugs. In addition, the incumbent will beresponsible for providing ongoing health education and counseling activities;prompt abnormal test reporting and follow-up; and maintaining follow-up logsfor record keeping purposes. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:
Practical Nurse Licensure in the Commonwealth ofPennsylvania.

*Excellent written and verbal communication.

*Demonstrated customer service skills with the ability towork with a diverse population of patients, faculty, staff, and students.

*Proven organizational and time management skills with a strongattention to detail.

Preferred:
*Spanish speaking skills. 
*Experience working with cardiology patients.
