Duties

We are seeking an experienced research coordinator to coordinate and implement clinical research projects in the field of lipid metabolism, atherosclerosis, and cardiovascular disease, within the Division of Translational Medicine and Human Genetics. Clinical research projects include both early phase clinical trials and investigator-initiated clinical studies that are expected to advance the development of novel treatments as well as our understanding of disease mechanisms. The essential tasks of this position include but are not limited to: Planning and implementation of subject recruitment. Consent and screen patients according to protocol. Schedule patient visits and any necessary testing. Monitor patients per protocol requirements and ensure adherence to protocol requirements. Organize and maintain all documentation required by the Investigator, sponsor or CRO, including source documentation, case report forms, and research charts. Collect, review and report study data. Complete case report forms and resolve data queries. Process and ship study specimens including blood and urine. Participate in initiation, monitoring, audit, and close-out visits as well as actively participate in team meetings. Communicate with the CRO, vendors and coordinators at other sites to organize dosing visits in a complex multi-institution clinical trial. Show vigilance in patient safety, protocol compliance and data quality. Adhere to all University of Pennsylvania, FDA and GCP guidelines. Participate in the development of complex documents such as protocols, inform consent forms and questionnaires. Work with limited supervision and use independent judgment.

Qualifications

The minimum of a Bachelor’s degree and 2-4 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Effective problem-solving abilities; effective communication and writing skills; strong organizational and time management skills; flexible and able to multi-task, demonstrated ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently; willing to work flexible hours. Experience in research with human subjects is required; experience in early phase clinical trials and in working as part of multi-institutional research study is highly preferred; knowledge of IRB and human research protection regulations is highly preferred.
