The ideal candidate must possess an earned Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Counselor Education, The ideal candidate must possess an earned Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Counselor Education, Counseling, or closely related field from an accredited institution with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching graduate level courses, academic research, and service. LPC licensure in the State of Texas is a strong plus.


Preference will be given to applicants with a strong work ethic, interpersonal, and teamwork skills; excellent written and verbal communication skills; great disposition; and superior working relations with students, peers, administrators, and others. Experience in a K-12 school counseling position and/or certification in school counseling strongly preferred. Experience in teaching courses through Blackboard and web-course development is strongly desired.

Primary Responsibilities

Must have the ability to teach a broad range of graduate level counseling courses as well as courses in the specialty area of school counseling and courses required for licensing. Responsibilities include teaching, supervision of practicum and/or internship students (some out-of-town travel is required), preparing degree plans, advising students, and active participation in departmental and university activities. Teaching assignments may be face-to-face (weekend format), distance education, web-enhanced, web-based, or any combination thereof.

Responsible for personal safety and the safety of others; must exercise due caution and practice safe work habits at all times. Position is Security Sensitive.
