TRIO Programs Academic Advisor (Talent Search/Upward Bound)


Tusculum University is seeking qualified applicants for Academic Advisor for the institution’s Talent Search TRIO Program serving 6th-8th grade students in Cocke County, TN. This 12-month, full-time position reports to the Associate Director of Talent Search-West and requires some evening and weekend work. The Talent Search Advisor provides educational and career guidance to students as part of a program designed to encourage high school and college completion. Duties include identifying, recruiting, and selecting participants; collecting and maintaining data; conducting small group sessions; designing and participating in program activities (some of which entails physical exertion); collaboration with school personnel and parents. The Talent Search Advisor must have excellent communication skills and proficiency conducting virtual meetings through online meeting platforms.

This position will remain open until filled.


Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred) and 2 years of work experience in education, social or behavioral sciences, counseling, student personnel, or related field; candidates must have knowledge and experience working with disadvantaged students and a commitment to the philosophy and goals of the program.
