Interim Technical Director

The College of Civic & Liberal Arts and Theatre-at-Tusculum invites applicants for an Interim Technical Director position for the 2023-2024 academic year, August 1- June 30. The Interim Technical Director is responsible for operating, maintaining, and protecting Tusculum University’s theatres and provides oversight over all technical elements—including load-in; set construction, lighting, and sound construction; and load-out—for all events within those theatres. Depending on experience and educational background, there might be also be opportunities for set, sound, and/or lighting design and teaching.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree in theatre and two years’ experience in technical theatre (e.g. set or lighting design, carpentry, etc. at the academic, community, or professional level). Preference will be given to candidates with a graduate degree and/or design experience. Preference will be given to candidates with teaching experience.

This position is subject to the results of pre-employment testing and a background check. An employment background check includes a criminal background check, employment verification, reference checks, license verification (if applicable) and credit history check (if applicable). If hired, the candidate will be required to submit proof of eligibility to work in the United States. All applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
