Upward Bound Counseling Specialist
Tusculum University is currently accepting applications for a Upward Bound Counseling Specialist. This is a 12-month, full-time position requiring weekly travel to schools and occasional evening work. This position provides educational and career guidance to high school students as part of a program designed to encourage high school and college completion. Duties include identifying, recruiting and selecting participants; collecting and maintaining data; conducting small group sessions; designing and participating in program activities (some of which entails physical exertion); collaboration with school personnel and parents. This individual must have a commitment to the philosophy and goals of the program and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree preferred) in education, counseling, social or behavioral science, or related field. The successful candidate must have experience and familiarity with disadvantaged student populations. Preference will be given to candidates with previous TRIO experience and/or guidance, educational and/or career counseling as well as experience in overcoming barriers similar to those faxing target population.
