Duties

Under limited supervision of the Admin & Finance Officer, the Payroll & Onboarding Manager will manage and process payroll for the Pulmonary, Allergy, and Critical Care Division (PACCD) for weekly and monthly faculty, staff, postdoctoral researcher/fellows, work-study/student workers, and temporary/extra employees. The incumbent will prepare, maintain, and manage PACCD’s salary/effort schedules for all monthly and weekly paid employees in collaboration with grants managers, both internal and external, to collect payroll funding support sources and documentation, as well as obtain from the division’s financial analyst the discretionary account funding sources. In this role the Payroll & Onboarding Manager will provide financial analytics and auditing support for the university payroll functions across the division. This role will manage the new hire onboarding processes for PACCD, including meeting with new employees for administrative orientation, new employee setup in the payroll system, communicate mandatory training requirements, submit IT access requests, etc.

Qualifications

A Bachelor’s Degree and 3 years to 5 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. Strong financial and accounting management skills is essential. Familiarity with University budget and administration procedures desired. Excellent interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills required. The position requires flexibility, strong problem solving skills, strong organizational skills, and a high level of attention to detail. A successful candidate who can work independently, under tight deadlines, is adaptive, and can work in a dynamic work environment. Strong skills in MS Word and Excel, with an emphasis on the latter, internet, email are required. Experience with Penn financial systems, and Payroll systems (PennWorks, UMIS, Rapid Role Entry, WorkDay), BEN Financials, Business Objects, and Hyperion is very helpful. Must also be discreet and have the ability to handle confidential financial matters.
