The Department of Surgery at East Carolina University is dedicated to providing state of the art care to patients in eastern North Carolina. The division has experienced consistent growth over the past several years. The bariatric surgery program is affiliated with Vidant Medical Center, which is accredited by MBSAQIP.
The Department of Surgery is a clinical department within the School of Medicine with the attendant responsibility for medical education and research. The Chair of the department is also the Chief of Surgical services for the hospital. The department includes 37 full-time faculty members in the sections of: transplantation surgery, plastic surgery, pediatric surgery, surgical oncology, general and specialty surgery, and trauma and acute care surgery. It also includes clinical and basic science research labs. The 70+ employees in the department support our clinical, education and research programs.
The East Carolina University Department of Surgery, Division of General and Specialty Surgery, seeks applicants to fill the position of Bariatric and Minimally Invasive Surgeon in our active, collaborative academic division.
Candidate will provide instruction in to medical students and appropriate training and supervision for house staff.
Fixed-term or tenure track position at the title/rank of Assistant Professor or higher available.
Board certified or board eligible in general surgery.
MD or DO from an appropriately accredited institution required and full, unrestricted medical license to practice medicine in NC
Experience and/or additional training in minimally invasive and Bariatric surgery is required.License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation
NC Medical LicensePreferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
Advanced training with emphasis in Bariatric Surgery preferred.Special Instructions to Applicant
