The Division of Infectious Diseases at The Brody School of Medicine is dedicated to the treatment of persons infected with HIV in Eastern North Carolina. Our physicians and physician extenders currently provide care for more than 1,000 patients in our clinic in Greenville as well as for another 300 patients in clinics in surrounding counties. Faculty members are currently collecting data to address the issue of the disproportionate infection rate of HIV in African-Americans. The division is involved in many clinical trials involving HIV therapies. These trials provide needed drugs to persons who may otherwise not be able to receive treatment.

Job Duties

The Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases at the Brody School of Medicine, East Carolina University is recruiting a faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level.

Activities will include inpatient consults, outpatient office visits, teaching of students, residents and ID fellows. The Division’s current strengths are Infection Control/Hospital Epidemiology, HIV medicine and clinical trials, fungal diseases and antibiotic stewardship. About 90 minutes from the Carolina beaches, Greenville enjoys a year round climate with an average temperature of 60 degrees.

The ECU Brody School of Medicine is affiliated with Vidant Medical Center. VMC is the flagship hospital for Vidant Health and serves as the teaching hospital for the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University.

Minimum Education/Experience

MD Degree from an appropriately accredited institution.

BC/BE in Infectious Diseases.

License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation

MD or DO Degree from an appropriately accredited institution.
