Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 4:45pm

Job Summary: The Academic Program Coordinator assists the director in the administration of a specific function(s) within a specific College.

Additional Department Summary: The primary duties are to support and involve students in the Honors College during their first year. This position will have direct responsibility with the student services arm of the Honors College and report directly to the Assistant Dean. This role provides access to opportunities for Honors College students to become involved and engaged in the Honors College Community, and the larger UA Community. This position will support efforts with Bama Bound Orientation; Honors College student advising; the Honors Connection Living-Learning Community and Honors Residential Communities; Honors Year One Lecture Series. The position will advise the Honors College Assembly and other Honors College student organizations. This position will be integral to student retention by increasing awareness of UA and Honors College requirements, services, and resources as well as student involvement in UA and Honors College activities and co-curricular opportunities.

Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of experience; OR Master's degree. Student or Graduate Assistant, Intern, or student oriented experience will be considered. To be considered student experience, it must be detailed in the employment section on the application.

Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: The ability to travel alone out of town, sometimes overnight. Some evening and weekend work required. Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 21 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report as determined by the insurance carrier.

Skills and Knowledge: Able to effectively use standard business application software, such as Microsoft Word and Excel. An interest in working with college students. The ability to work with different cultures and groups of people.

Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree and a minimum of four years of experience in education, student development and programming, academic counseling, or other relevant field. Prefer experience working with Honors College-students or working in an Honors College environment, teaching, curriculum development, and event planning.
