 TheDepartment of Emergency Medicine has an opening for a full-time, UniversityStaff (unclassified) HR & Faculty Affairs Manager (HR Manager) position.

Nature of Work:The Human Resources &Faculty Affairs Manager is responsible for managing the department’s HumanResource (HR) and Faculty Affairs operations. This includes, but is not limited to, recruitment, appointment,reappointment and onboarding processes for staff, faculty and students. Theposition will need to navigate the complexities of a complex academic medicalcenter and multiple systems in order to successfully manage and executeresponsibilities.

 The Department of EmergencyMedicine is invested daily in our mission to provide international leadershipin emergency medicine through exemplary patient care, academic innovation,clinical and bench research, medical student, resident and fellow education,and community service.  The Department ofEmergency Medicine was established in January 2010.

  • Supervision Exercised: This position will overseetwo to five administrative staff. Examples of Work Performed:
  • Appliesknowledge of professional HR methods including theories and principles andknowledge of University policies and procedures.
  • Coordinatesall HR hiring activity within the department including advising on processes,facilitating paperwork submission.
  • ManageHR functions within the Department and coordinates support as necessary.
  • Keepscurrent on all Human Resources policies and communicates changes as necessaryto department management and staff.
  • Serve asthe ED expert on all human resource policies and procedures.
  • Developand implement department policies to ensure compliance with University, UPI andState guidelines.
  • Superviseadministrative staff as needed.
  • Developstaffing strategies with Director of Finance & Administration fortransitionary periods.
  • Develop employeewellness plan in conjunction with faculty representatives.
  • Manage,navigate and help to resolve complex employee performance issues.
  • Workside by side with Legal and University Risk Management to develop new policiesfor Department initiatives.
  • Develop,implement, and coordinate all aspects of new faculty onboarding andcredentialing processes at multiple hospitals including and involving newtechnology.
  • Overseethe generation and distribution of faculty annual base salary and incentiveletters in accordance with entries on Table 1, ensuring accuracy and compliancewith SOM and University policies and guidelines.
  • Overseethe annual departmental Promotions and Tenure process and manage the internaltimeline for such actions.
  • Evaluateperformance and develop SMART goals for job growth.
  • Overseeall faculty recruitment processes from start to finish.
  • Overseethe annual faculty review process and serve as the Department resource/expertfor the PRiSM faculty review system.
  • Servesas a business and administrative resource for individual faculty membersrelative to all faculty affairs.
  • Manageall academic appointments and reviews administrative requirements for clinical(volunteer) faculty (involved in Education). Administers and maintains theDepartment's policy and listing of clinical faculty.
  • Coordinateall professional searches within the department utilizing department resourcesto facilitate the process with a cost-benefit analysis.
  • Maintainaccurate, timely and complete records ensuring compliance with Federal, Stateand University laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Incollaboration with the Vice Chair of Finance & Administration, assist inthe development of standard operating procedures and process improvementinitiatives.
  • Authorityto delegate.
  • Communicateclosely as needed with faculty and staff in the department, university HRdepartment, School of Medicine Faculty Affairs, external entities andaffiliates regarding HR and faculty affairs issues.
  • Performcompensation analyses.
  • Manageadministrative staff and evaluate performance.
  • Contractwith external service providers for temporary staffing needs.
  • ProvideHR support to management, faculty and staff.
  • Performother duties as assigned.

     Salary and Benefits:The hiring salary forthis position is negotiable and commensurate with skills and experience. Thisposition is not eligible for overtime compensation.

    QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’sdegree in human resources, business, finance, communications, or other relatedfield from an accredited institution.
  • Experience working with diverse groups on recruitment,compensation, policy analysis, employee relations, etc.
  • Five (5)years of professional experience handling human resources functions for acompany/organization.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Amaster’s or higher earned degree in a related field.
  • Experienceworking in a higher education setting.
  • Experiencedeveloping department policies and procedures.
  • Experienceworking with PeopleSoft and CU Careers.
  • Competencies/Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
