 Marketing and Communications Program Managers are responsible forthe day-to-day operation of a program, function or work unit, including thedevelopment and implementation of processes consistent with college, school ordepartmental strategies and processes. These positions typically do not supervise others.

 Nature of Work:The Marketing and Communications Program Manager is a strategist for planning, developing and tracking marketing and communications efforts to support the CU School of Dental Medicine’s (SDM) goals, brand and messaging. 

Example of Work Performed:

This position is responsible for supporting theOffice of Communication’s comprehensive strategic plan across various channelsincluding external, internal, print, digital and social media that highlightsand promotes the school and clinics’ strengths. The Marketing andCommunications Program Manager will work closely with theDirector of Marketing & Communications, Communications Coordinator at theSDM and the CU Anschutz Campus Communications team to foster collaboration,maximize talent and resources to deliver results, achieve SDM goals and drivesuccessful marketing and branding efforts. This position is actively involvedin the day-to-day marketing and communications of the SDM, working closely withalumni, dentists, faculty, staff, and students to gather and publicize contentto the appropriate audiences with the most appropriate platform all in linewith the SDM’s vision and mission.

 Salary and Benefits:Hiring salaryrange is $57,998 - $97,436 and negotiable and commensurate with skills andexperience. 

 This position is eligible for overtimecompensation

QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:  A bachelor’s degree in marketing,journalism, public relations, communications, public health, or a directlyrelated field from an accredited institution.

Theposition requires extensive, diverse and progressively responsible experiencemanaging marketing and branding projects with multiple stakeholders and drivingdirect to consumer marketing initiatives. Must have a minimum of three to fiveyears' experience in marketing, communications and branding with demonstratedexperience including any of the following:

  • writingfor various communications: website, scripts, yearly magazine, marketingcollateral, etc.,
  • editing and proofreading copy drafted by others for content, styleand accuracy,
  • understandingof audience segmentation for marketing and media messages,
  • creatingoriginal content for marketing, communications, advertising, social media andpublic relations,
  • developingand managing brand strategies,
  • updatingthe SDM’s website through its current and new computer management systems,
  • helpingwith migrating content from one computer management system to another, alongwith assisting with the website redesign,
  • coordinatingphoto and video shoots for the SDM,
  • being creative, supportive and thoughtful in problem-solving,considering the diverse and occasionally conflicting needs and perspectives ofthe faculty, staff and institution,
  • working effectively on teams, in both leadership and support roles,
  • establishing and maintaining effective working relationships withprofessional and administrative personnel at all levels, including outsideorganizations and the public,
  • planning and managing multiple projects simultaneously, withattention to detail, deadlines, and the university-wide context of decisions,
  • understanding and work within a complex institution withextensive, regulatory and compliance responsibilities, as well as formalreporting and coordinating lines of authority,
  • demonstrating commitment and leadership ability to advancediversity and inclusion, and
  • havingoutstanding customer service skills.
Substitution: College or university course work appropriate to the workassignment, may substitute on a year for year basis for the experience but notfor the specific experience. Preferred Qualifications.
  • Five years of extensive, diverse and progressively responsible marketing/communications/PR experience.
  • Experience working in a healthcare organization and a higher education setting.
  • Working knowledge of best practices in digital marketing, along with experience in social media and web content management systems.
