Conference & Program Coordinator (Working Title: Coordinator, Career Programming)

DescriptionThe University Career Services (UCS) office is recruiting for a Career Programming Coordinator.  This position coordinates the planning, logistics, and management of all University Career Services programs, events, and activities for all campuses.  This position reports to the Associate Director for Employer Relations.  This role works with all members of the UCS staff to ensure that all offerings are professional and efficient using an innovative approach to student success that is the hallmark of Georgia State. The incumbent should possess a creative mindset as well as current insights into strategies for optimum execution are essential.

 

The scope of responsibility will include these specific duties but is not limited to the following,

  • Hold primary responsibility for the planning and execution of all logistical aspects of major UCS career fairs and events.  Develop and coordinate processes and procedures for pre- and post-event meetings and project management of events

  • Serve as the primary liaison between Employer Relations and Student Career Development to ensure that students are aware of career and professional development opportunities, and that partners have optimum student participation

  • Serve as a representative of the Creative Services Team along with the Marketing Specialist and Technology Communications Coordinator to approve all event requests and incorporate marking and technology into events and programs

  • Work with Business Manager to reconcile fiscal matters related to events and programs

  • Coordinate partner program requests from Georgia State faculty, staff, student organizations, alumni, and the external community

  • Organize all requests for classroom presentations, university-wide events such as new student orientation and the commencement fair and execute the actions required for departmental participation

  • Develop and maintain relationships with such entities as facilities, parking, and catering as well as relationships with external vendors to support events, programs, and activities



QualificationsBachelor's degree and four years of related experience; or a combination of education and related experience.

In addition to the numerous degree programs, Georgia State offers full- and part-time programs and day, evening and weekend classes.

There is also an active student government association which includes the student senate and the judicial board.

The Georgia State Panthers are members of the Colonial Athletic Association and compete in 16 NCAA Division I intercollegiate men’s and women’s sports, including basketball, baseball, softball, golf, tennis, track and volleyball. The university announced in April 2008 that is will begin Division I-AA football in 2010.

The university’s innovative Touch the Earth program brings outdoor recreation ranging from backpacking, rock climbing, sailing, kayaking, rafting and water-skiing to out-of-state snow-skiing and snorkeling trips. And WRAS, Georgia State’s popular 100,000-watt radio voice, is the most powerful student-run radio station in the United States.
