PhDRequired Related Experience
Mid to senior level PhD, with expertise and experience in clinical sports medicine and early/advanced Osteoarthritis clinical research as well as gait analysis and evaluation.
A strong publication record in the last 5 years as senior or primary author, with established and coordinated interdisciplinary research teams to develop clinical research agendas.
Experience with industry related funding and grant writing, with a history of extramural fundingRequired License/Registration/Certification
The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Kentucky is seeking a tenure-track faculty member to develop an interdisciplinary translational research program focused on evaluating, maintaining and improving functional independence and return to function in musculoskeletal patients prior to and after surgical procedures. As our research program continues to evolve, this position will be expected to acquire federal research funding as well as have a high level of involvement with the education and research mentorship for residents, fellows, and graduate students.
This position will also train, develop and mentor Resident, Fellows, Medical Students, Graduate Students, and Clinical Coordinators as needed for clinical studies. This may include:
•Lectures on research technique and statistics to fellows and residents
•Specific investigator training and/or lectures for studies or trials
•Developing a training curriculum for clinical research in Orthopaedics
•Be available as collaborator and advisor on clinical outcomes research and investigator initiated clinical studies and trials
The activities shall be limited to research in Orthopaedics focused on clinical outcomes, clinical studies and trials as well as collaborative research projects with other Departments at the University of Kentucky and be expected to assist in fulfilling the research objectives of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery in the College of Medicine. This person is expected to submit or co-submit grant applications to support new research initiatives.
