The F. Joseph Halcomb III, M.D. Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) is seeking applicants for a temporary assistant professor position beginning August 2019. This is a one-year contract with potential for renewal. Responsibilities of this position include developing and teaching courses, and conducting research in areas such as Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine, Biomedical Imaging, and/or Physiology/Biology/Animal Models for Biomedical Engineering, and areas of interest of the candidate. Minimum qualifications are: a PhD degree in Biomedical Engineering or related engineering fields, prior university teaching experience, and interdisciplinary research experience.
The University of Kentucky is one of only a small number of U.S. institutions having a major academic medical center with all six health sciences colleges and the full spectrum of academic colleges on a single campus. The recently renamed BME department aims to contribute to the engineering-medicine integration at UK to elevate the patient treatment methods and technologies to a new level. The department is located centrally within the College of Engineering and within walking distances of the Colleges of Arts & Sciences, Dentistry, Health Sciences, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Public Health, Design, Business, etc.
