Job Details
The goal of the UNC School of Medicine Program on Health and Clinical Informatics is to improve the quality of care and health outcomes of patients in North Carolina and the nation through the development, evaluation, and implementation of cutting edge health information technologies and informatics innovations. Our faculty conducts research in clinical informatics and consumer health informatics/digital health, which includes topics such as patient-reported outcomes (e.g., self-reported symptoms, function, and quality of life), patient-generated health data from devices and wearables to better capture the patient experience, development of user-centered technologies, data visualization of personal health and clinical data, and the integration of health information technologies into clinical care and the electronic health record and patient portal.
The Associate Director of Health & Clinical Informatics, Dr. Arlene Chung, invites applications for a dynamic project manager to support the activities of the Program on Health & Clinical Informatics, the UNC Clinical Informatics Fellowship Program, and her informatics research program. The principal functions of this position are project and program management, research administration, communication, and management and maintenance of our newly accredited clinical informatics fellowship program as the fellowship program coordinator. This position will manage a variety of informatics projects and research studies that are supported by federally funded and industry-funded grants (e.g., NIH, PCORI, etc.). Activities will include assisting with ongoing accreditation and management of our ACGME clinical informatics subspecialty fellowship program which will recruit its first class of fellows this summer, managing timelines/tasks, drafting structured reports and summaries to entities such as IRB and funding agencies, assisting with financial management and budgets, supervising and assisting/performing recruitment and data collection activities for specific research studies, assisting with grant proposal development/submission and scientific deliverables (e.g., manuscripts, poster/oral abstracts, etc.) and administrative tasks.
Educational RequirementsMaster’s degree in public health, informatics, information science, or computer science or similar. If Bachelor’s degree only, must have a minimum of 3 years of related work experience.
Qualifications and ExperienceThe preferred applicant will be a detail oriented, self-starter with strong verbal and written communication skills and exceptional interpersonal skills. The preferred applicant will have an interest in supporting the development and evaluation of informatics tools, digital health, and data transfer methods. The preferred applicant will have at least 3 years project management experience (including IRB submissions, grant proposal submissions, reporting, budget management, recruitment/data collection, study management, etc.) in the context of grant-funded health research. Must have proficiency with computer software including MS Office Suite. A strong capacity to work as part of a team and effective interpersonal and group facilitation skills is also essential. Program coordinator experience in Graduate Medical Education and experience with managing website content is a plus.

Location: UNC is located in the heart of Chapel Hill, the best college town in America! It's a friendly town of about 40,000 in the geographical center of North Carolina. Chapel Hill is at the western point of the Research Triangle, an area of about one million people, comprised of Chapel Hill, the cities of Durham and Raleigh, and the Research Triangle Park, home of many corporate offices and scientific research centers. Carolina is about 30 miles from the state capital, Raleigh, and 20 minutes from Raleigh-Durham International Airport.
