Job Summary:

Job Function:

Camp Counselors will assist with the day-to-day responsibilities for the operation and support of the camp. The one week camp will serve up to 40 children that are entering the 6, 7 & 8th grade. Counselors will assist the Camp Coordinator in ensuring effective and cohesive daily operations on the training, support and supervision of all camp attendees.



Essential Job Functions:

  • Group supervision of campers
  • Greet and welcome all campers & staff each day
  • Remain visible and accessible to staff and campers
  • Provide direct assistance to all program areas (including setup when necessary) and provide Camp Coordinator and other counselors with support
  • Promote camper participation in ALL activities.
  • Assist with taking attendance, activity rotations, check-in, and release of campers.
  • Attends mandatory training as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Work Experience:

  • Previous experience working with children/students in a camp environment or class.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Professional and diplomatic demeanor and appearance
  • Ability to cooperate with others and have positive attitude toward staff, faculty, students and the public.
  • Ability to work as a team member with other counselors and staff
  • Ability to efficiently handle multiple tasks, with high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work responsibly, friendly, enthusiastically, and patiently.
  • Evidences a history of demonstrating ethical and professional behavior

  • Education:

  • High school diploma/GED

  • Working Conditions:

  • Work will be performed in multiple location across campus with a significant amount of public contact, in person and by telephone and via email.

  • Physical Requirements:

    • Walking and standing small distances between locations
    • May lift up to 20 pounds. If an object weighs more than 45 pounds, OSU-Oklahoma City requires this to be a two-person lift.)
