Description


SUMMARY: Provide strategic leadership, direction, management, administration, oversight, and support for the delivery of academic programs within the School of Health. Foster relationships and maintain a high level of internal and external customer support for students, faculty, staff, managers, local employers, other educational institutions, and additional stakeholders.

SUPERVISES: Administrative and functional supervision is exercised over School of Health Associate Deans, Departmental Support Staff, Technical Assistant(s), and their respective staff of full-time and part-time instructors managers.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities (include, but not limited to)

  1. Develop and Oversee SOH strategic plan with Associate Deans input, making adjustments using data driven information. Monitor SOH outcomes such as enrollment, retention, student and employee satisfaction and new programs. Intervene as necessary by working through the chain of command.
  2. Hire, coach, mentor and direct Associate Deans to help with their success in managing their departments and meeting student needs. This includes listening to their suggestions and making changes as appropriate.
  3. Serve on college and statewide teams/committees representing the College, SOH and the professions that the SOH prepares for the community. This includes attending statewide meeting for the shared curriculum programs in the SOH.
  4. Develop and maintain a collegial relationship with all colleges and universities in the state, including national universities with representation in the state for the sake of articulation agreements and smooth transitions for our students wanting to advance in their education.
  5. Oversee the development and monitoring the budgets for the various departments in the SOH. Interceding as necessary and providing guidance to the Associate Deans.
  6. Support the mission and vision of WCTC, by assisting in strategic planning on a college and department level.
  7. Maintain knowledge and awareness of political/professional issues, which may affect the college and/or the SOH and act/inform others accordingly.
  8. Consult with supervisors, colleagues and other resources in order to provide the best service for student outcomes.
  9. Network within the Health Community in order to promote our programs, develop new programs, support our students and receive donations for our programs.
  10. Write and manage grants as appropriate. Encourage and coach Associate Deans in seeking grant opportunities, writing and managing grants.
  11. Engage in ongoing professional development.
  12. Complete other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications


Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Requirements

  1. Knowledge of curriculum development.
  2. Knowledge of Nursing and Health Occupations fields.
  3. Knowledge of adult education principles.
  4. Knowledge of organizational behavior, group dynamics, and conflict resolution.
  5. Knowledge of and ability to supervise, develop, and coach a large-sized staff.
  6. Knowledge of and skill in implementing quality concepts such as process improvement, team building, customer service, consensus decision-making, data-based decision making, etc.
  7. Good organizational and planning skills.
  8. Ability to plan and manage a budget and resources for a large division.
  9. Excellent human relations skills and communications skills.

Education and Experience Requirements
  1. Master's degree or higher in administration, education or related field.
  2. Five (5) or more years of experience in leading, supervising, and managing within an educational environment.
  3. Five (5) years of educational program management experience in at least one programmatic discipline area taught within the School.
  4. Two (2) years teaching experience (part time or full time) in an accredited higher education institution or high school; equivalent training experiences will be considered.
  5. Three (3) years of work experience (part time or full time) in a related field.
Supplemental Information


The Dean of Health supports the School of Health and is available on or before August 1, 2019.

Position Information:
This is a full-time, Management Level 10, 12-month per calendar year position. Hours will be scheduled Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Salary is listed at the 2018-2019 rates.

Selected candidates will be invited to interview. Interviews will take place June 12, 2019. Out of state candidates, or candidates more than 100 miles from WCTC can choose to attend, or will have an option to use Skype. All candidates who are invited to the second interview MUST be in person. Travel will be reimbursed up to $300.00 (for the second interview only).
