DescriptionThe Office of Admissions recruits, selects and enrolls the University’s undergraduate student body in the School of Arts and Sciences and the School of Engineering and coordinates outreach and application processing for the graduate programs in both schools. Each year, the undergraduate admissions staff designs and manages a comprehensive recruitment plan that attracts nearly 70,000 student inquiries and as many as 50,000 campus visitors; processes, reads, evaluates and renders decisions on more than 21,000 applications for freshmen and transfer admission; and enrolls an academically-accomplished and diverse class of 1,425 freshmen and 50-100 transfer students. For graduate admissions, the office designs and manages outreach initiatives on behalf of the graduate faculty in over 30 masters’, doctoral and certificate programs as well as coordinates all aspects of application processing for these programs.

The Assistant Director of Admissions works with a professional Admissions team to fulfill the enrollment objectives set by the Dean for the school. S/he reads and evaluates applications for admission, participates in the selection process and serves on selection committee, conducts group information sessions for prospective students and represents the university at schools and college fairs during travel to assigned geographic recruitment territory and at alumni and other recruitment events. This individual participates in the development of recruitment strategies and manages specialized recruitment functions.

QualificationsBasic Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree and 2 - 5 years of directly related professional experience.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Creative impulse.
  • Experience in public speaking.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Driver’s license.

Special Work Schedule Requirements:
Position requires travel.
