Position Summary

The Swim Instructor position is non-benefited, part-time and not to exceed 1,000 hours in a calendar year. This position is responsible for teaching swim classes in a professional manner and maintaining a safe pool environment. The job responsibilities include the following:

  • Maintain a safe environment for participants and parents.
  • Instruct swimming skills in group and private settings to participants of all ages and abilities.
  • Evaluate program participants according to DU Learn to Swim standards.
  • Adapt teaching approaches to the experience, ability and culture of Learn to Swim participants so they can meet lesson objectives.
  • Complete and submit program and participant progress reports as required.
  • Communicate with parents and/or participants regarding participant's progress and how they may be able to assist in the participant's progress.
  • Provide excellent customer service to all Ritchie Center guests.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Current or previous CPR/AED/First Aid certification.
  • Able to move about the Ritchie Center while transporting equipment or objects up to 50 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working towards a bachelor's degree.
  • Current American Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid certification.
  • 1-2 years of swim lesson instruction experience.

Pay

The pay for this position starts at $12.00 hourly
