Position SummaryProvide digital accessibility support, training,and guidance to web developers, web designers and content creators across NYU. Enable adoption of accessible technology solutions for the NYU community (faculty, staff, students, alumni, and the public).QualificationsRequired Education:Bachelor's Degree in Information Science, Information Design, Computer Science, Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Instructional Designal, Quality Assurance, Learning Technology, Assistive Technology, related field or equivalent industry training / experience.Required Experience:5+ years of experience in assistive technology application, training, and assessment including experience in assessing accessibility compliance and creating strategies to meet legal requirements. Comprehensive, working knowledge of web accessibility standards, testing tools, and techniquesRequired Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Excellent analytical and problem solving skills. Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical users and clients of all levels, as well as a demonstrated ability to partner effectively with internal resources (cross-functional teams) and external resources (vendors and contractors) to deliver meaningful results. Strong presentation skills. Ability to work collaboratively and productively both with diverse teams and independently. Proven track-record of providing compliant, high-quality accessibility services in an academic setting. Deep knowledge of WCAG 2.0 AA and WAI-ARIA. Knowledge of how to improve and remediate accessibility using web-based technology including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Knowledge regarding how to create and remediate common document types to be accessible, such as PDF, Word Doc, and PowerPoint. Working knowledge of captioning practices and production methods. Working familiarity with how people with disabilities use technology, including computers and mobile devices. Deep working knowledge of accessibility-testing tools, assistive technology and common accessibility policies and regulations. Experience training technical and non-technical users in digital accessibility. Experience working in an academic environment.Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Knowledge of user-centered design principles and tools.
